The Association for Coastal Ecosystem Services (ACES) was set up in response to the growing capacities of community projects we work with in East Africa. A charity was needed, with a base in Europe, to effectively transfer and monitor funds gained and donated towards the efforts of the charity and the community projects it works with.
ACES works with communities to identify areas for potential conservation in coastal areas, and then helps build capacity through training and research. Once community projects have become fully established, ACES works towards raising funds through the sale of carbon credits and private donations. These are then transferred to communities once all obligations have been met. This ensures transparency and best practice between all players involved.
